How to Prevent Acne Scars on the Face
Almost everyone has experienced one form of acne or another, and the big question is: how to prevent the scarring from emerging?
You see… acne occurs when oil and dirt build up in one of our pores, which contain a hair follicle and an oil gland. When there is too much oil in that pore, dirt and other debris begin to clog the pore, inflammation ensues, whether in the form of a puffy red pimple, a blackhead, or a whitehead. After the inflammation, scars can often be left behind as a reminder.
In order to prevent acne scars on the face, one of the first things to do is to treat acne at the first sign of appearance. Don’t irritate the acne by popping, squeezing, or picking at the pimples, blackheads, or whiteheads as this causes damage to your facial skin.
If blackheads or whiteheads need to be removed, you can use the steaming method, where you place your head over a bowl of steaming water with a towel placed over your head to cover the sides, not allowing the steam to escape. Allow the steam to soften your skin for approximately ten minutes, then, using a blackhead removal tool, you can begin to press this onto the blackheads and watch them easily burst forth.
There are also blackhead strips on the market that you can purchase to use, that allow you to place them on certain locations on your face, wait the allotted minutes, then tug them free; with blackheads and all.
If acne scarring occurs, the skin can heal itself if the acne doesn’t reoccur. Washing your face with a salicylic cleanser can help keep the acne from recurring.
If scabs have appeared, picking at them will only enhance the scarring. Let the scabs remain until the healing process is complete.
Avoiding the sun when possible is wise and when going out, wearing sun block will also help your skin heal.
Using creams with vitamin C can help as it is a natural skin lightener.
To prevent acne scars from appearing, you must take care of your skin and try not to get acne in the first place. Proper cleansing and maintaining healthy skin is important, however if you do get acne, there are still things you can do to prevent acne scars on the face. Avoid popping the pimples, picking at them, and allow the skin to heal on its own.
